The Great Cappadocians
* In the region of Cappadocia, there lived three church leaders known under the collective title of "the great Cappadocians": Basil of Caesarea, his brother Gregory of Nyssa, and their friend Gregory of Nazianzus. Also there was a remarkable woman, Macrina. she is the sister of Basil brothers, and influenced them. "It could be said that she was the founder of Greek monasticism." (183)
